Stress Relief

About a week ago, my wife and I traveled to Virginia and stayed at a mountain resort for a few days prior to the rush of the Christmas season. The resort was well decorated, and the weather was seasonal with a slight dusting of snow on our last day. It was good to get away, slow down in the hopes that my stress level would be reduced.

Unfortunately for me, my stress level increased as on the first day when I went to the complementary coffee station and noticed there was no tea option. I stared in disbelief as I couldn’t believe this well-known resort didn’t have complementary tea. So I made my way into the restaurant and asked for a “to-go” English breakfast tea and also told them they were out of coffee (which they were). A few minutes later my tea was handed to me along with a bill; however, after this initial experience, I decided I’d be drinking my own stash of tea for the rest of the week.

My experience above is why we started 50CUPS, and when it comes to stress, we have blends that can help calm you down. Chamomile, peppermint, lavender, and other herbs have been known to calm the body and reduce stress.

So, what does stress do to the body? Stress can cause headaches, chest pain, stomach problems, muscle aches, and sleep problems. In addition, stress can lead to mood changes, anxiety, memory problems, and other emotional issues. In essence, when these symptoms occur, your body is telling you it’s stressed out and you need to change.

For me, exercising, praying, and being outside helps me reduce stress. I work out 6 days/week and try not to do it alone as being part of a group not only motivates you but helps you take your mind off things that may be causing stress. Praying helps me too, but I will tell you it’s hard sometimes as you need to push aside your thoughts and focus on God. Lastly, being outside, especially when it’s warm and sunny, always helps brighten the day.

Customize your routine that works best for you to reduce stress, and remember to always drink tea. Our destress and holiday blends are a delicious way to enjoy a great drink, and at the same time, reduce your stress. These teas are loaded with various herbs that are known to reduce stress, so drink up at 50Cups or order online - and remember to always pack your own tea as you never know when you’ll need it.
